Sora and other characters from the Kingdom Hearts franchise will appear in Fortnite later this week, as Epic Games confirmed on social media that the collaboration with the popular JRPG franchise will soon be a reality. The appearance of Sora in Fortnite is part of Chapter 7 Season 4, which includes appearances from video game characters across multiple franchises.
Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, subtitled Override, kicked off on August 20 on all supported platforms. The main theme of Override is the appearance of several video game characters and franchises within Fortnite. These cameos include, but are not limited to, Sonic the Hedgehog, Street Fighter, Mega Man, and Tetris. Fortnite Chapter Seven Season 4 is scheduled to end on Halloween weekend, so players currently have less than two months to enjoy all that the season has to offer.
Kingdom Hearts Comes to Fortnite September 17
The Kingdom Hearts collaboration within Fortnite begins Thursday, September 17, at approximately 7:00 AM Eastern. Along with a short video that showed Sora's appearance in Fortnite, which is based on his outfit from Kingdom Hearts 2, Epic Games also posted quotes from the Kingdom Hearts franchise. Based on the quotes in question, character skins of Sora, Riku, Kairi, and Roxas will likely be available in some capacity during the collaboration. Additionally, the Kingdom Key was confirmed to appear as a Mythic weapon. Fortnite fans pointed out that the Kingdom Key's keychain, which usually has Mickey Mouse's emblem, was replaced with one that depicted a Supply Llama. It is currently unclear how each Kingdom Hearts character skin, or the Kingdom Key Mythic weapon, will be obtained, so players must wait a few more days to find out.
Additional details about the outfits that Riku, Kairi, and Roxas will wear in Fortnite were not revealed as of this writing. Weeks after the Kingdom Hearts collaboration begins, the annual Fortnitemares Halloween event will start sometime in October. Once Chapter 7 Season 4 ends following the conclusion of Fortnitemares, a rumored mini-season will be held throughout November. In 2025, Fortnite held a mini-season that included a collaboration with The Simpsons, with popular characters such as Homer joining the fray. According to rumors, the upcoming mini-season for November 2026 may feature a collaboration with One Piece.

During the annual D23 event, Disney and Square Enix shared more details about Kingdom Hearts 4, such as the inclusion of Coco as a world that Sora will explore. Kingdom Hearts 4 was also confirmed to arrive on all current-gen platforms in late 2027, though a precise release date remained elusive. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation game director Naoki Hamaguchi later revealed that Kingdom Hearts 4 was being worked on by Creative Studio 1, meaning that two of Square Enix's 2027 releases will come from the same internal studio.
As for Fortnite, Epic Games also confirmed on social media that it will collaborate with popular VTuber Ironmouse. While a sprite of Ironmouse was featured in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, Epic Games teased that a skin based on one of her many avatars could become available at a later date.
